About The Artist / 画家简介

Born in 1961 in Selangor, Chow Chin Chuan was graduated from Kuala Lumpur College of Art in 1982, with a Diploma in Fine Arts. In the next year after graduation, he has majored in Figure Design in the same art school and eventually obtained another Diploma. Since 1990, he was won major art awards such as Minor Award, Young Contemporaries organised by National Art Gallery Malaysia (1990) The Outstanding Award in Kelantan Watercolour Show MWO (2006), Anugerah Insentif in Open Show Organised by Shah Alam Gallery (2009), Finalist Award in The 1st UOB Painting of the Year Competition (2011) and Best Awards of Artworks from International Art Workshop at Muong Museum and 4th Asia Art Link Vietnam (2012). Since 2002, he has held 8 solo exhibitions in Malaysia, including solo show in City Art Gallery (2003), NN Gallery (2008), Mutiara Gallery (2009) and Pinkguy Gallery (2011) and etc. Selected group exhibitions included: “The Young Contemporaries” Exhibition at National Art Gallery Malaysia (1986-1991), “Koleksi Annual Exhibition” at Gallery Petronas, Kuala Lumpur (1992-1997), “Image of Malaysia & India” exhibition at Sao Paolo, Brazil (2000) and New Delhi, India (2001), International Watercolor Show at Nagoya, Japan (2009) etc. He is the Vice President of Sasaran Art Association, and the President of Preparatory Committee of Sasaran International Art Festival 2014. He is also currently the Vice Chairman II of Malaysian watercolour Society (MWS).

Galeri Seni Mutiara, owned by Mr Koay Soo Kau has the vision to promote art in Penang. It’s mission is to encourage, develop and foster interests in art and inculcate an appreciation and understanding.
